This Tawny has an interesting story. A kind member of the public rescued him and took him to the vet. Unfortunately they forgot to leave details of where he was found, but the vet contacted us and we sent out a plea on Facebook to find his home. Our followers shared our post and helped us find where he came from, so now he’s been rehabilitated and released and has a much greater chance at survival. Tawnies are territorial and mate for life, so if you find one injured please tell us where they were found so they can be returned to their family. Sadly, these gentle birds are often injured or killed – they fly in front of cars to catch the moths they see in the headlights.
