Pelly the pelican came to Wildlife Rockhampton sick, injured and unable to eat. After just 14 days she flapped her wings and flew free back into the wild, healthy and happy. From Pedders Suspension in Rockhampton who found her and called in the experts, to Amanda who rescued her, Lana who tended her around the clock, Sergii who went fishing on very cold nights to feed her, generous members of the public who donated to her cause and expertise from both Pelican & Seabird Rescue and Torenbeek Vet Clinic, it was a mighty team effort to save this beautiful bird. As a result of Pelly’s rescue, we made it into the local media with an article and follow-up in the Capricorn Coast Mirror.
We also managed to capture the moment of her release on video. Goodbye Pelly and good luck!
